Robert "Bob" Ballard ist der wahrscheinlich berühmteste Unterwasser-Archäologe der Welt: Bekannt wurde der Geophysiker vor allem durch die Entdeckung des Wracks der "Titanic" sowie des 1941 von der Royal Navy versenkten deutschen Schlachtschiffs "Bismarck". Für die Dokumentation lässt Ballard die wichtigsten Stationen seiner wissenschaftlichen Karriere Revue passieren.
