American Greed

"The Home Invader" Thirty-two year old Geoff Goldman says he's come up with a plan that can take him to the top of the real estate world. He tells homeowners facing foreclosure that he can save their homes by purchasing their houses then renting it back to them until their finances are in good enough shape to buy it back. But from the moment the client signs on the dotted line, nothing goes as Goldman claims it will. By a network of straw buyers, falsified loan applications and flat-out larceny, Goldman ensures that dozens of homeowners will never set foot in their homes again, and all the money they've put into them is gone. "Nashville's Predator" Aaron Vallett wants to be the one-stop-shop for business financial services in Nashville. He can run payroll, manage 401k plans, set up IRAs, and if some employees have a little money left over to invest, he runs a mutual fund as well. Unfortunately, almost none of the money put into his mutual fund gets invested in anything but Vallett's lifestyle and image. He buys fast cars, a million-dollar house, and shells out hundreds of thousands of dollars to become the "Official Investment Advisor" of the local NHL team, the Nashville Predators. But when the SEC sees him reaching into people's retirement plans to help supplement his way of life, Vallett's no longer the predator, he's the prey.
