  along the river to hidden gems and remote farmsteads\, through deep side v
 alleys with mountain streams and to mighty mountain ranges and craggy outcr
 ops\, but it also sheds light on the region's long and sometimes painful hi
 story. With a length of 749 kilometers\, the Drava is the Danube's fourth l
 ongest tributary. Its 264-kilometer journey through Carinthia takes it past
  imposing massifs such as the Gailtal Alps or the Karavanks\, through histo
 rical cities such as Spittal an der Drau\, Villach and Ferlach\, and across
  ancient rural cultural landscapes. The Drava is the oldest and was once th
